Judith Edmonds 2

Some people wonder whether the Lord really does heal as He says in the Bible and I can tell you

HE REALLY DOES
and more than once sometimes!

I cannot remember the path that led to me having a biopsy under general anaesthetic at the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, but that is what happened in January 1998.  My elder daughter came with me to receive the results and we were told by the consultant that I had cells which were turning cancerous.  A follow-up biopsy was recommended to be carried out about 4 weeks later

That biopsy took place and, at the following consultation, was told that these cells were progressing along their path but not yet regarded as fully cancerous, but would need monitoring.  Several biopsies were performed over the next few months, showing the continuing path of those cells, until September, when I was told that I now had endometrial cancer and would have to have a hysterectomy within 4 weeks.  An appointment for the surgery was duly scheduled

On the due day, I entered the ward to be told that the consultant surgeon wanted a word with me and my escorting daughter.  He said he had a ‘hunch’ and that he would not perform the surgery and ‘come back tomorrow’ when he would perform another biopsy under general anaesthetic.  We were gobsmacked to say the least: the last thing we expected a surgeon to do was to delay such surgery because of a ‘hunch’

I duly returned the following day and was discharged later the same day

About ten days later, I received a letter from the surgeon, who said he was delighted to confirm that there was now no trace of cancer!!  Under normal circumstances, this cannot possibly happen as I had had no treatment whatsoever and all is documented with the medical history of the progress of the cancer conducted by the hospital

However, my, then, church, Kings (now renamed Kingsgate Community Church) was praying very intensely for my healing and I thank them and that the Lord is a merciful God who heard their prayers and healed me yet again

I’d like to close with a little prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for the miraculous ways You have worked in the past.  Help us to remember Your power and faithfulness when we can see only trouble and difficulty.  Amen
