Park Baptist Church's story goes back over 260 years, with the church built on the current site for 140 years!
We began life in 1754 as a 'Particular Baptist Church', which is the name given to people who believed in a particular doctrine. This doctrine followed the teaching of John Calvin, and emphasised that Jesus died only for a particular number of people. We have come a long way since then, and for over 150 years have strongly emphasised that Jesus died for all
In 1864 the premises on Crown Road were opened, and this remained the meeting place for the church until 1995. The church completed a move to its current building in 1995, after dry rot had rendered the previous building unusable. Since then, the church has grown considerably, and in 2008 a new ministry for the large Portuguese community in Great Yarmouth was founded. This continues to be led by Rev Leda Schofield, and God has blessed it with dozens of regular attenders
Whilst this is very much a shortened version of our history, it is perhaps indicative of where our emphasis lies as a church. We are proud to have such a long connection with Great Yarmouth, but we try to not let our past overshadow our future
We are excited by the ways God has worked through Park Baptist Church, but would love for you to be part of the story of where God leads us in the future
